LUCANIA. Velia. Circa 334-300 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.37 g, 8 h). Head of Athena to left, wearing Phrygian helmet decorated with a centauress on the bowl; behind neck guard, monogram. Rev. ΥEΛHTΩN Lion standing left, devouring animal part; above, A; below, monogram. SNG Copenhagen 1563 (same dies). Williams 331 (O173/R243). Beautifully toned and of fine style. Very fine.

From the collection of Dr. A. Drakul, ex Auctiones GmbH E-Auction 13, 17 February 2013, 2 and from an old Swiss collection, formed the first half of the 20th century (with old collector's ticket).
